W E L C O M E
My Sister Mary was an all volunteer, non-profit organization which was established to honor the memory of Mary E. (Fallon) Gistis.
We started in 2012 and set a 5-year goal to raise $100,000 for cancer research or to benefit cancer treatment facilities. As of October 2016, we raised over $60,000 for Stand Up 2 Cancer and The Gateway for Cancer Research. This was our final year, and we started to cease operations.
Examples of our fundraising events included:
- Selling and exchanging jewelry and houseware products, and the net proceeds donated to the charity
- Raising funds by running in events such as road races
- Annual fundraiser events with gracious donations from local businesses, restaurants and New England-area hotels
- Fundraising at the North River Theater
- Selling Mary Gistis' photographs
- Children's books sales from "The Adventures of Sabrina" book series
View our Events page for a list of the fundraising activities which we've conducted over the past five years.
Final Event: Donate Blood
After five years, we have decided to cease operations and will not be conducting any additional fundraising efforts. As a final request, however, we're asking everyone to contribute or donate blood to the American Red Cross as blood donation levels typically fall over the summer months. If you visit any blood donation facility, post a selfie on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #mysistermary. In doing so, you will help us to promote this final act, and in turn, you will be entering yourself into one more raffle for a chance to win one of Mary's photographs or for a set of children's books.
Find your blood donation center today and help us spread the word on social media. This will also be a great way to honor Mary who would've turned 49 this month!
This raffle will only take place for social media postings taken during the month of November 2016.
John Hancock Corporate Giving
John Hancock Corporate Giving generously donated $1,000 to My Sister Mary Foundation! We are very grateful to all of our corporate sponsors and to those firms who are willing to match employees contributions for great causes.
